The Chrysalid Forebodings

"Good job Tim! I thought the film was hauntingly poetic! Keep up the good work!"

Andrey Iskonov, (Director of Philosophy of a Knife and The Tourist) said:

"Hi Tim. I Just saw your movie and must to say you -- Bravo, my friend! Really creepy, dark and atmospheric, with your own great music! There are not many good films about death around us...
It seems cinema is your talent!
P.S.: If possible, will you make some music for me once? ;)"

Marcus Koch, (Director of 100 Tears) said:

"Eerily amazing, darkly fantastic, and profoundly genuine! If this is what you hit the ground running with, each step you take is going to carry you further! This is a great slice of work, both in stark ideals and visual style! I can't wait to see what comes next!"

Manoush, (The actress who played sex-obsessed girl in the classic film Amelie) said:

"Tim Wambolt, your film "The Chrysalid Forebodings" is a journey through the human symbolism of death ... philosophical, metaphorical, metaphysical and enigmatic with such a lot of atmosphere to it .. captured in black and white .. then in color .. one doesn't just watch your film but can feel it in the stomach/solar plexus as well ...
I love that Iskanov-esque moving creature that almost shocks you to death in the old hotel ... the movie has a soul .. I love it !!!!!
Einstein kinda proved life after death even: Energy can't just vanish but transforms ..
Oh and you have a beautiful child.. you can be very proud of her!"

Brian Paulin, (Director and star of Bone Sickness, Fetus and Blood Pigs) said:

"That was pretty cool Tim. And strange! I really like the b&w. Good job! I definitely want to check out your next one! It looks awesome! I love the creepy old fashion look! It drips with atmosphere. Exellent job! I love short films that are odd, don't explain everything and have an other wordly feel to them. That old time piano sounds great as well!
Tim, please make more movies! I want to see more from you!

Michael Todd Schneider, (Director of A Tribute to Sanity and My Crepitus) said:

Tim, I watched your flick, a hell of an opening BOOM for your first stab at film making! There's genuine mood, I'm big on mood...that's not easy to come by! Your music creates a great old fashioned back to basics scary 'thing'.
My only real complaint is the CGI stuff, I'm never a fan no matter how good it is but I think you did a great job using it for what it is! I really loved the gritty simpler stuff you were doing! For your first film it's exciting to see you had the opportunity to play with that sort of technology anyways! So all in all, none of that is negative as a viewer!
I'm routing for you man! You're on to something really sweet! I hope you continue to evolve your style and don't steer away from the concepts you've launched in this film!

Mario Dominique, (Author of Exploring the Underground) said:

Hey Tim, I just watched your film. It's a great short! You did a fine job and your daughter did very well too! Has a very surreal look with some great visuals! I like the DVD cover, btw. Will you be putting out a limited pressing of it on DVD? I'd gladly buy a copy from you!
Once again, great work!

Ronny Carlsson, (Director and star of My Monster and Video Geisteskrank) said:

"A really good supernatural independent film! There aren't too many of those out there! Very atmospheric. I think you should make a feature film, you'd be good at it! Continue making films man, if this was really your first, then you'll be doing some really cool stuff in the future!"

Michael Witherel, (Star of Maskhead and Murder Collection Vol. 1) said:

"I like the noir-ish narration! Very surreal as well! Good work! Make more!"

Redneck Ronin, (Director of Maleficent Mentation) said:

"I love the background music and parts were creepy. For a film it kinda dissapointed me cause I wanted more when it ended. Not a bad thing when I sat back and realised that is a great thing for a film maker to do. Congrats Tim you got ability for sure and so does your daughter as well. Totally cool you guys got to do something like this together and inspired me even more so, it was a big influence! I figure everyone should watch it! It is a prime example of what creativity and drive can accomplish! I will view anything you put out there man that's a fact!"

I just watched The Chrysalid Forebodings, it was pretty impressive! I've studied film, took two classes in college! You do well with limited resources, a sign of ingenuity and creativity! The visual dialogue keeps up well with the verbal dialogue, as well as the musical dialogue, it all functions together impressively! The edits make a sort of shaky continuity that I think mirrors the theme of purgatory (being between to opposing and turbulent realms, heaven and hell) and also the uncertainy of searching for something of that nature. Good transition from the gritty, old-timey sort of irising into the colorful post-metamorphosis realm, symbolic for sure! This film is really impressive and creative! Good work! I think you are now proficient in form of expression, verbal, visual, and acoustic/musical, not many people are as diverse as you, my friend! Good work, "hauntingly poetic" is one way to explain it!
One shot that really caught my eye was the scene where you walked into that dilapidated house and in the foreground you had a centipede crawling up a stick or something, that signified to me Evil over Innocence, also, using the right side of the screen was clever because heroes are usually on the left side (Hollywood conventions) but you used the right side to emphasize the centipede which mirrors the evil or villianous presence within the house as your dialogue points out. But overall, your dialogue meshed with the images, which is something I really appreciate, sometimes concretely, and other times abstractly, that would be my favorite element of the film! Then, when you add relevant and atmosphere enhancing music it becomes very impactful! I think you definitely have the right ingredient to be a solid film maker my friend! I showed my best friend your film, who is a Film Major, and a kinda snobby one lol, he really liked it! Specifically how you "played with Point-of-view", it takes a lot to get his approval! He is high-minded in the subject of film so congratulations there if that means anything to you!
