Long Awaited POSTAL 2 Multiplayer Update
A Parade of Cool New Features For Free!
A project that has literally been in development for years – a multiplayer patch for Running With Scissors' POSTAL 2 – is now available via download as a very special gift to the POSTAL Community.
Co-created by RWS member Jon Merchant and POSTAL mod master Kamek, with support from various members of that storied game community, the patch dubbed 1409X is prepared to prove that the long wait for its arrival was well worth it.
"1409X is a collection and vast improvement of the greatest and most commonly used POSTAL 2 multiplayer updates, game types and fixes, all organized into a nice little patch," explained Merchant. "It also fixes some bugs based on community feedback and adds three new DeathMatch maps, eight arena maps and a Snatch map."
1409X also adds many new features for Mappers to mess with, as well as some new Editor functions. With these updates installed, POSTAL 2 becomes one of the most configurable online games ever produced.
Jon Merchant extended special thanks to Mod Man Kamek for "making all this possible" and to POSTAL Community members that "helped with ideas, testing and feedback, most notably Mr Downerup of www.downerup.com and Rob Myth from the DKT clan."
A detailed version of the patch's features, along with extensive instructions can be found in PDF format here . To download the client side patch users can find the installer for Windows here while the Zip archive for Linux, Mac and Windows (Manual install) is here and the full 1409X dedicated server for Windows is located here.
For gamers who would like to rent a dedicated server to run a POSTAL 2 1409X server, we highly recommend http://artofwarcentral.com/ -- and additional support for running servers is available if needed, via info@gopostal.com.
And don't forget – POSTAL 2 Multiplayer has been free for some time in Windows, Linux and Mac formats, so if you have not done so already, get in on the mad, mad world of POSTAL 2 Multiplayer -- which is, even now, getting a whole new lease on life. Here's where you go:
Windows:

Linux:

Mac OSX:

NOTE: For Windows only, 1409X is not compatible with Linux servers (sorry!), though Linux users can still install the patch and join Windows servers, as 1409X will work on both dedicated listen (in-game) servers.
For those deprived souls that have not yet played POSTAL 2: Share the Pain in MP, now is the perfect time to get your feet wet, so to speak. There are three main sub communities within the POSTAL Community macroverse, so you are sure to find one that suits your style. There is the more serious Snatch (CTF) Community; the heavily-modded Deathmatch Community, with its crazy, over-the-top weapons, maps and mods, and, finally, the Team Deathmatch Community that sits somewhere in between the other two. Many players have been playing the game a very long time and you are likely to make some new acquaintances along the way.

I cannot believe that this new patch did not fix the problem that myself and many NEWER PC owners have. The game will not play. When it starts the intro screen showing the the menu it runs a super-fast screen. Even the sound bytes overlap themselves and cut-out. And when the game actually starts for it is VERY VERY SLOW (some people report it being very very fast, not me). It is completely unplayable with frames rates just about 0. Yet I play it on my old laptop and it works great. My girlfriend has a newer laptop but still older than my gaming machine. It works great. This brand new patch with tons of fixes and nobody bothered to test it on a newer PC?
I run:
Windows XP
Intel Core DUO Processor 2.67 Mhz
NVidia GTX 260 video card.
I fixed it. I had to force windows XP to run with only one processor. In task manager go into Set Affinity for Postal2STP.exe and turn one of the CPUs off. Never had to do this for any game but oh well, it worked.
Hey MrChoke.
I hear ya, and yes you found pretty much the only solution we were able to find too, and in hindsight I should have documented that in the help file to save you having to resort to trial and error.
It was not something me and kamek could fix via Unreal script sadly. It's not a problem on all multicore PC's but it does happen, For example I'm running a 2.40 Intel duo core and there are no issues, yet I've seen people with lesser CPU have your exact problem so we have yet to pin point a patten. I think similar problems happen on other unreal 2.5 games also with multicore pcs.
Thanks for reminding me about it and we will get a tutorial posted to the website to help others avoid this in the future.
I need help instilling this patch all together. I'm new to this can someone give me a hand please.
Windows, mac or Linux?
If it's windows, you can just double click the installer and install it to the folder you have Postal 2 STP installed, which is most probably the default folder.
C:\\Program Files\Postal2STP\
I didn't see anything about an installer, but I do have windows. Can I get a link please.

Okay what folder is the instiller in. Sorry to keep asking.
Just run the installer, keep clicking next, and it should install in the right place (i'm assuming not) , unless you chose a different harddrive or folder when installing P2, in which case only you can work out where that is.
I hate to bruise your ego and all, but I forgot you even existed until this moment. Have you not considered the possibility of it being your ex wife? I understand you guys had issues. Maybe one of your devoted fans from the drive thru?
Hope you enjoyed the patch! :)
