Bob’s Steak and Chop House - 0/10
Tucson, AZ - Restaurant Review by Vince Desi
This is not going to be pretty. Poor service, crappy food, and waaaay overpriced. Your table comes with a jar of pickles and peppers; the bread bowl was stale; and the crab cake appetizer tasted like a frozen hockey puck.
FOOD: We ordered all three steaks medium rare (22 oz bone-in Rib Eye, 22oz bone-in Kansas City and the 16oz Filet) and all three were seared rare. I think they forgot to broil them. The sides were worse than junk food -- who the hell wants a dildo size carrot on their plate? No, we didn’t waste any more time or money on dessert, but did order a bottle of Cab, but they brought out the wrong bottle and then said thanks, we never had Cab on the menu and we serve this instead. So I ordered a second bottle and this time they opened it as it arrived. It was a great Syrah, but when I looked carefully it was the right vineyard but the wrong wine, and they never, not once, apologized or attempted to correct anything.
PLACE: I’m usually wary of restaurants in hotels, resorts and gold courses, and I was right again. This place is a farce. It’s located at the Omni National Golf Resort in Tucson, AZ. Bob's is standard routine and you immediately know you're about to get hosed to pay for the great view, so hell, just go outside and have a drink on the patio, enjoy the sunset, then leave and have dinner somewhere else. This Restaurant got started in Dallas then they opened in San Francisco (must be the carrot dildos) and the other three are in Texas. I love Texas, but someone from Dallas better get over there fast and straighten this place out.
COMMENT: Go to McDonald’s!
It’s places like this that compel me to write restaurant and food reviews. I’m starting to feel like a food sheriff -- somebody has to protect people from establishments like this that should be shut down and run out of town on a rail.
