American Flatbread - 5/10
Burlington, VT - Restaurant Review by Vince Desi!
After the horrible experience of eating crap pie for lunch at the nearby Three Tomatoes Trattoria I continued my Vermont search for superior pizza at the locally acclaimed American Flatbread. Here the smell was rich in wood smoke!
The staff was knowledgeable and polite, and the ingredients were fresh and tasty. The oven was almost at 700 degrees, the pies looked great with bubbly crust. We ordered a Revolution pie (sun dried tomatoes, caramelized onions and cheese, a Medicine Wheel (3 cheese and oregano) and one custom half organic fennel sausage and nitrate free pepperoni). The first pie came out undercooked so I immediately instructed the waitress to get it right, my nephew told her I do reviews and the next 2 pies were cooked perfect and delivered by the chef’s helper. I wish I could say these pies tasted better-they were good but not great. I think it was the dough, they use a combination of wheat and white flour, something just didn’t taste right, but thanks to the high quality toppings it was still ok.
Summary: Again, go to Vermont for blueberry pancakes with real maple syrup.
