Phil's Bio Page
"A bio? You're kidding, right?"
That's actually what I said back when I was first asked for a bio,
but then, "back then" was a long time ago. Well, at least
it was a long time ago in dog years. I was perfectly content to leave
my bio's "Past Credits" blurb at a simple: "The brunette
who appears doing the first 'shake it up' line in Def Leppard's 'Pour
Some Sugar On Me' video," but I've since been told to 'fess up.
Okay. Fine. You asked for it...
Phil Murphy is a writer and political activist who co-founded the
civil rights organization Brassroots, Inc., a decade ago. Having captured
two felons at gunpoint on two separate occasions, he's twice testified
before the United States Congress in defense of Americans' right to
keep and bear arms. A well-known denizen of the public airwaves on
both television and radio, Murphy also ran two (unsuccessful) campaigns
for the House seat in Arizona's 5th Congressional District. Although
contributing as a writer, vocal artist, armorer and creative consultant
for the videogame developer Running With Scissors, Murphy continues
to pursue his political activism/fanaticism whenever his rotten health
allows; including performing both set security and location coordination
for the documentary film "The FLIR Project" as well as producing
and writing political ad copy for the Libertarian and Republican parties.
An original TAP (Theater Alignment Program) Evaluator for Lucasfilm,
Ltd. since 1990, he regularly acts as a curmudgeonly copy editor and
commercial voice-over talent. A real live Arizona native(!) for two-score
and not-quite-seven years, Murphy resides at his home in Tucson where
he is working on his first novel -- and his fifth nervous breakdown.
